Top 10 Favorite Skylanders

Now that we've discussed my least favorite skylanders, it's time to go over my favorite skylanders. In my opinion, every game has it's share of amazing skylanders. Even Giants, the game with the weakest roster, has skylanders that I absolutely love. Sure, they're not all perfect, but the ones that are are the main reasons for why I keep playing these games. Everyone has their favorites, and I'm no different, so let's get into the list and analyze these ten (technically eleven) skylanders.

Top 10 Least Favorite Skylanders

Obviously, not every single skylander is amazing. This isn't to say that a lot of them are bad, but there are some skylanders that people would point to and call them one of the worst. As shown in my reviews, there are really only five skylanders that I don't really like, so this really could've been a top 5 list. However, I decided to make it a top 10 list because the majority of the least favorite skylanders lists that I've seen are top 10s and I also think that it would be interesting to have a least favorites list where the first half is mostly skylanders that I think are okay. Also, if your favorite skylander is on this list, that is perfectly fine. There isn't a single skylander that I actually hate and it is possible that I need to play as these characters more. Anyways, let's get into the list and discuss the skylanders that could honestly be better.

Top 10 Best Trappable Villains

The main gimmick of Trap Team was the ability to capture bosses and mini-bosses and playas them as if they were actual skylanders. Like I said in my ranking of the normal villains, the quality of these guys varies from fantastic to pretty bad. This list is meant to highlight the villains that I consider to be the best. I know that these kinds of lists are incredibly different, but this is personally how I'd rank these ten villains. Anyways, let's get into this list and rank some reformed villains.

Every Starter Pack Skylander Ranked From Worst To Best

I promise that this will be the last change to the 2020 Christmas week release schedule. I was originally going to rank the level pack skylanders, but the ranking got out of hand and I wanted to do something simpler. The starter pack skylanders are usually the first skylanders that the player would use when they first get the game. There are some that get a bad wrap while others are fan favorites. Personally, in my opinion, not all of them are amazing, but there are some real gems. Anyways, I didn't prepare an intro paragraph for this list (this was literally made on it's release date), so let's get into the list before I make things any more awkward.

Favorite Skylander Design Of Each Element

I know that in my recent update post, I said that I would be releasing a ranking of the Kaos final boss fights today, but after thinking about it some more, I realized that for that kind of list, I would need a proper rating system and I don't have that (yet). As a replacement, let's talk about skylander designs. I know that many people factor the design of a skylander into their overall rating (a skylander with a 5/5 moveset would only get a 4/5 because they don't like their design), but I tend not to because it doesn't affect their overall gameplay. However, that doesn't mean that I don't have an appreciation for skylander designs. While there are definitely designs that I like more than others, there isn't a single design that I dislike. That's mainly because to me, each design has it's own unique features. With that being said, this was a bit of a tough list to make, but I managed to put something, so let's take a look at the designs th...

Every Normal Villain Ranked From Worst To Best

While the Doom Raiders felt like fully upraded skylanders with a full moveset, the other 36 villains felt like skylanders that have yet to be upgraded as they only had two moves. Even with that, the size and quality of these villains are all over the place. Big, small, good, bad, or right down the middle in both departments, this is by far the most interesting group of playable characters that I've ever ranked (and the hardest to write about). With that being said, this will be the longest ranking to date (that I've done), so let's get into the list and rank some of the less dangerous villains in Skylands.

Every Doom Raider (and Kaos) Ranked From Worst To Best

After Giants, every Skylanders game had a secondary antagonist that either worked with or against Kaos. Swap Force had Kaos' own mother, Superchargers had The Darkness, Imaginators had that weird brain thing, and Trap Team had the Doom Raiders. They were some of the most dangerous criminals in all of Skylands (before half of them became senseis), but they were eventually recaptured by the s kylanders. In terms of gameplay, they have the traditional Skylanders moveset: three moves, each with their own attributes. For the most part, these villains are varied in terms of quality, but ranking them was not hard at all. Anyways, that's enough exposition for right now, so let's get into the list and rank Skylands' deadliest criminals.

Update: Holiday Season Plans.

I hope that everyone enjoyed my reviews of the trappable villains. With a few exceptions, they were really fun to do. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, but on the bright side, I have quite a bit planned for the holidays.

Every Skylanders Element Ranked From Worst To Best

There are many things that makes each individual skylander stand out from one another and their element is one of them. Overall, there are eleven different elements in the Skylanders series, each with their own unique characters. However, when it comes to the skylanders in those elements, their quality tends to vary. While there are a lot of great characters, there are others that are more detrimental to their respective elements. Also, for this list, I'll be grouping the light, darks, and kaos elements into one group mainly because there aren't that many skylanders in those elements. If I didn't do that, the kaos element would've been number one and considering that there's literally only one character for that element, that wouldn't be fair at all. Anyways, since I won't be ranking all 165 characters at the moment, let's get into the list of the next best option.

Every Sensei Ranked From Worst To Best

Imaginators is widely regarded as being one of the worst Skylanders games (even on Reddit, it's considered the worst game). I still prefer it over Giants, but that's not saying much. Despite having an awful story, the graphics are much better and there are a lot more great skylanders. Speaking of skylanders, the senseis are one of my favorite skylander groups, especially with how they introduced to concept of Sky-Chis. As for how they are as characters, a lot of the are great in my opinion while the others are pretty good and only a few of them are worth skipping. With that being said, let's see how many unpopular opinions I have and get into the list.

Every Supercharged Repose Ranked From Worst To Best

While Superchargers did introduce some new faces, it also reintroduced some old friends from previous games with new attires and movesets. While there were a couple of downgrades, for the most part, I feel like the majority of these reposes improved upon their original counterparts, whether it be a minor improvement or a major one. Regardless, these guys were still decently easy to rank, so let's get into the list and talk about one of my personal favorite skylander groups.

Every Supercharger Ranked From Worst To Best

Superchargers is the game that is probably the most divided amongst the Skylanders community. Some people saw it as the series at its peak while others saw it as the beginning of the series decline. For me, Superchargers is my favorite of the six games, since it has the best story in the series, amazing graphics, and diverse yet enjoyable gameplay. As for the superchargers themselves, I will say that in terms of quality, these guys are all over the place. While this did make them easier to rank, it does make me wonder if the makers of these games saved their best material for the secondary group. Anyways, let's get into the list and talk about this interesting cast of characters.

Every Mini Ranked From Worst To Best

This is probably the most unnecessary ranking to make, but I'm honestly tired of the minis not getting much love. While the minis themselves could be seen as pointless, they still brought back many fond memories that players had when playing as the original characters. In terms of this ranking, I will be ranking these guys based on how their original counterparts have performed. Unlike past and future rankings, I won't be providing any explanations since I have rankings and reviews that involve the characters that inspired these guys. With that being said, let's get into my most pointless ranking yet.

Every Trap Team Core Ranked From Worst To Best

When it comes to the cores released in Trap Team, it's still a shame that so many awesome skylanders got shafted to make room for the trap masters. While Trap Team didn't have as many great cores as Swap Force, they were still pretty hard to rank (and hard to track down). Luckily, I was still able to do it, so let's get into the list so we can be done with cores being overshadowed.

Every Trap Master Ranked From Worst To Best

After Swap Force washed out the bad taste left by Giants, Trap Team came in to wash it out even further. Overall, the game was highly praised with IGN calling it the best in the series and many users on the r/skylanders subreddit calling it their favorite. As for me, I absolutely love it, but it's only my second favorite game in the series (we'll get to my favorite soon enough). Part of my love for this game comes from the trap masters and how enjoyable the majority of them are. Along with that, Trap Team introduced my favorite skylander and he just so happens to be a trap master. Now that that little fact has been established, let's get into the list and find out who my favorite skylander is.

Every Swap Force Core Ranked From Worst To Best

Boy oh boy, was this a hard list to make. Out of the three groups of assisting cores, the fact that the Swap Force cores were overshadowed so much was the biggest shame. This is mainly because most of these skylanders are fantastic and even the worst ones are pretty good. This list was a tough one, but I still managed to make it. With that being said, let's talk about some great skylanders.

Every Swapper Ranked From Worst To Best

Swap Force was exactly what Skylanders needed after the poor taste that was left by Giants, as it introduced a new concept that I can't even being to explain. The main skylanders in this game weren't just oversized cores with a few minor adjustments. They had the awesome ability to literally swap their top and bottom halves to give a lot of variety to the players (btw, there are a total of 256 combinations). Another thing that Swap Force did that was a big improvement over Giants was that it not only released more new characters, but more new and great characters. As for the main attraction, while not all of the swappers are great, I found that the majority of them are. With that being said, let's get into the list.

Every Giants Core Ranked From Worst To Best

Giants was also the game that started the trend of the cores getting overshadowed by the main group of the game. In Giants, it's not the biggest shame since only a couple of them are great, but it still sucks that some enjoyable skylanders got overshadowed by the Giants. What's also interesting was that these guys were even easier to rank than their giant counterparts. With that being said, let's get into the list before the opinion police show up again.

Every Giant Ranked From Worst To Best

Giants is mostly known as the worst Skylanders game for a number of reasons. My biggest issue with the game is that there weren't that many new skylanders released; what makes the issue even worse is that only five of them were great while the quality of the others varies depending on who you're talking about. However, that also made ranking them much easier, so let's get on to the list!

Every Spyro's Adventure Skylander Ranked From Worst To Best

Spyro's Adventure was the game that got many people into Skylanders to begin with. I can't really say that about myself, but I did acquire the game later and, even though I do find it to be one of the weaker games in the series, I still really enjoy it. In terms of the characters that were released, I found the majority of them to be great while others were far from it. So with that said, let's analyze the original batch.

Update: 7/20 - 7/24

I'm sure that some people were wondering why there were no reviews on Saturday and Sunday. That was mainly because I can't really play Skylanders in my current circumstances. However, this doesn't mean that there won't be content this week. I knew ahead of time that I wouldn't be able to do any reviews this week, so I prepared three different ranking list of the different groups that I've fully reviewed during this series. Here's the schedule: Monday, 7/20: Every Spyro's Adventure Skylander Ranked From Worst To Best. Wednesday: 7/22: Every Giant Ranked From Worst To Best Friday: Every Giants Core Ranked From Worst To Best     Once I'm able to play Skylanders again, the reviews will continue. As far as I'm aware that date will be Sunday, 7/26. Until then, I hope you guys enjoy the rankings.

Update: Future Installments

Image
Now that I've reviewed everyone from Spyro's Adventure, I feel like I should take the time to touch upon characters from later games since each game has a new gimmick that makes it stand out from the first game. Also, before I explain how the reviews for the unique characters will work, I'd like to point out that every game before Superchargers introduce new "core" skylanders (skylanders with no extra gimmicks, like the ones from Spyro's Adventure).
