Game 4, Chapter 8: Mind Over Matter!

Skylander: Blastermind
Upgrade path: Psychokinetic


    Upon his release, Blastermind quickly rose in popularity because of his Soul Gem (which I'll get to later). Despite having an appearance similar to Megamind (one of my favorite Dreamworks movies), he was never my favorite trap master. His traptanium brainwaves are decently powerful, but I will admit that they aren't that effective. The levitation ability is pretty good for immobilizing enemies while you use other abilities on them, but again, it's not that powerful. His brain freeze ability is practically useless as it does little damage and is the biggest example of false advertising (it claims that it slows down enemies, but it barely does). The only thing that keeps him from getting a 2/5 is his Soul Gem that allows him to automatically solve lock puzzles, which can be pretty annoying (especially in later games). Overall, Blastermind doesn't have that much to write home about, but thanks to his Soul Gem, I can at least give him a 3/5.

      After Swap Force washed out the bad taste left by Giants, Trap Team came in to wash it out even further. Overall, the game was highly praised with IGN calling it the best in the series and many users on the r/skylanders subreddit calling it their favorite. As for me, I absolutely love it, but it's only my second favorite game in the series (we'll get to my favorite soon enough). Part of my love for this game comes from the trap masters and how enjoyable the majority of them are. Along with that, Trap Team introduced my favorite skylander and he just so happens to be a trap master. Now that that little fact has been established, let's get into the list and find out who my favorite skylander is.
