Top 10 Skylanders To Bring To A Halloween Party

Since tomorrow is Halloween, why not introduce something that I do plan on doing more on this blog: unorthodox top 10s. For this list, I will be listing 10 skylanders that would fit right in at a Halloween party. What I did is I chose 10 (technically 12) monsters for these skylanders to represent. This list is in no particular order, but there are 4 rules:

1. Only one monster per skylander.

2. No beta/concept skylanders.

3. No trappable villains.

4. No NPCs (non-playable characters).

With that being said, I actually have a couple honorable mentions that would be on the list, but my rules keep them from placing. Anyways, here are the honorable mentions:

Krankenstein - Frankenstein

This big guy would've easily made the list because of his name alone, but because he's a villain and not a skylander, I couldn't put him anywhere but here. However, I do hope that this gets you guys excited for the villain reviews that I'll start doing tomorrow.

Tarclops - The Blob

Fun fact: Tarclops was actually the original version of Zap; however, that's exactly why he's not on the list. Tarclops has a similar appearance to the Blob, but because Zap became a skylander and not him, he was unable to make it on the list. I will say, though, that it is nice that he later became a hat in Trap Team.

Funny Bone - Skeleton

This is the only honorable mention that doesn't break the rules. Funny Bone was originally on the list, but got booted off because I found a better choice and his pairing made the least amount of sense. At the same time, Funny Bone is a pretty underrated skylander, so he at least deserves a mention.

10. Wild Storm - Werewolf

While Wolfgang would've worked well as this monster (nice alliteration), he's too obvious of a choice and he doesn't actually transform. On the other hand, Wild Storm's Soul Gem gives him the ability to transform into a giant beast that destroys everything in his path. Also, he's the better skylander in my opinion, so why not put him on the list instead?

9. Night Shift - Vampire

There aren't that many vampire skylanders, but Night Shift immediately came to mind when thinking of characters for this list (other than him, there's just Roller Brawl, Bat Spin, and Bone Bash Roller Brawl). Night Shift's bite move puts him on the list because it's very similar to how vampires actually feed. Biting enemies heal him and vampires generally suck the blood out of their prey for food. Too dark? I'm sorry, but when we're talking about vampires, the topic of blood will come up.

8. Gill Grunt - Creature from the Black Lagoon

This one is based more on appearance as Gill Grunt has a similar appearance to this particular monster (there's no way that I'm typing the whole thing again). As both have fins for ears and as a mohawk, that's why Gill Grunt is representing the Creature.

7. Enigma - Invisible Man

There are a nice amount of skylanders that can turn invisible, but not only is Enigma the best one (in my opinion), but his invisibility move is also the best one (again, in my opinion). Also, we never see what Enigma actually looks like, which adds to his mysterious nature and lands him this spot on the list.

6. Grave Clobber - Mummy/Pharaoh

This one felt a bit obvious as Grave Clobber was originally the pharaoh of the Golden Desert (which is where you fight him in Trap Team). Even without that fact, his design is very similar to that of a generic mummy, with lots of bandages and that red thing around his neck (if anyone knows what that thing is called, please let me know in the comments).

5. Eye-Brawl - Headless Horseman

Eye-Brawl doesn't really look like the Headless Horseman, but his Eye Fly ability is the reason why he's on the list. Even though it's not that great of a move, the fact that it technically makes him headless is enough for me to want to put him on the list. Eye-Brawl also has a pumpkin-headed Halloween variant, so it goes perfectly with the Headless Horseman's pumpkin head.

4. Hood Sickle - Grim Reaper

Unpopular opinion: I like Hood Sickle more than Grim Creeper. That's probably why I put the former here as this monster instead of the latter. The only other reason that I can think of is that Hood Sickle looks more like the actual Grim Reaper whereas Grim Creeper looks like a cartoon character. Not that it's a bad design (it's actually really good), but it did cost him a spot on the list.

3. Pop Fizz - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

This was a choice that I didn't even think of until much later, but when you think about, it actually makes a lot of sense. Just like how Jekyll used a serum that unleashed his darker side, Pop Fizz uses potions to unleash his monster side. Other than that, there aren't that many similarities, but he's still worth a mention.

2. Hex - Witch

This is where it became a bit harder to find skylanders for this list. One of the most well known creature of Halloween is a witch. When trick-ot-treating, it's near impossible to not see one as a decoration or as a costume. Since Hex is technically a witch, I feel like I should include her on the list. Like I said, these last two spot were hard, so I'm sorry if the #1 spot is a bit underwhelming.

1. Ghost Roaster - Ghoul

I am fully aware that Ghost Roaster is a fan favorite skylander, so I felt like I had to put him somewhere on the list. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of anything else to pair him with other than a generic ghoul. Thankfully, he does have some ghost-like abilities that warrant being paired up with a ghoul, but it's shame that I can't pair him up with anything other than a ghoul because he is a very good skylander. Also, before anyone brings up the Flying Dutchman, that's a ship.

Thank you for checking out this list. As a small treat, here's my ranking if the skylanders that were on this list:

#10. Ghost Roaster

#9. Pop Fizz

#8. Eye-Brawl

#7. Hood Sickle

#6. Hex

#5. Grave Clobber

#4. Wild Storm

#3. Gill Grunt

#2. Enigma

#1. Night Shift
